Türkiye's natural gas imports increased by 18.5% in January 2026 compared to the same month of 2025, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Friday.
Natural gas imports in January rose to around 7.72 billion cubic meters (bcm), up from approximately 6.51 bcm in January 2025, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
Russia was the largest natural gas supplier to Türkiye, providing 2.70 bcm, while Azerbaijan and Iran followed with 1.03 bcm and 130 million cubic meters (mcm), respectively.
During the period, Türkiye imported 2.75 bcm of LNG from the US, followed by 475 mcm from Algeria, 175 mcm from Mauritania, 95 mcm from Angola, 93 mcm from Nigeria, 89 mcm from Egypt, 85 mcm from Cameroon, and 81 mcm from Spain.
Meanwhile, the country's total gas consumption increased by 10.2 % to approximately 8.41 bcm in January compared to the same month in 2025.
Industrial natural gas consumption rose slightly by 0.18% to 1.25 bcm. Gas use at power plants increased by 2.9%, reaching 1.44 bcm.
Household consumption increased by 17.8% to 4.38 bcm during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in January increased to around 4.25 bcm, compared to 4.05 bcm in January 2025.
