Provided in co-ordination with the Turkish Police Academy, the program aims to prepare correspondents for possible dangers that may arise while reporting under emergency situations and states of war and natural disasters. Turkey's disaster management agency AFAD, Turkish Armed Forces and the Undersecretariat of Public Order and Security also contribute experienced staff to the program, which offers a comprehensive range of subjects including journalism, personal security, laws of war, first aid, advanced driving techniques, water survival techniques, chemical and biological attacks and media management in hostile environments. The War Journalism Certificate Program lasts 12 days and participants complete 114 hours of study, out of which 66 hours would be on the field coursework.
