Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by around 4.1% on Wednesday compared to the previous day, totaling 938,556 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Thursday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 44,367 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,828 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 943,676 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, marking a rise of about 1% compared to the previous day.
Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 31.9% of total generation, while solar and natural gas contributed 16.9% and 12.3%, respectively.
Daily electricity generation from solar energy in Türkiye reached its highest level of the year on May 13, at 159,592 megawatt-hours. The previous highest level of solar-powered electricity generation this year was recorded on May 12 at 150,870 megawatt-hours.
On Wednesday, the country's electricity exports totaled 10,176 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 4,98 megawatt-hours.
