Türkiye's electricity production increased by around 2.5% in July compared to the same month in 2024, the latest data from the country's energy watchdog showed.
Total electricity production rose to around 33 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in July, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced this week in its electricity market report for July 2025.
The country produced electricity from several sources, including 29.2% from natural gas, 22.3% from imported coal, 17.2% from hydropower, 10.8% from wind, and 10.3% from lignite.
Geothermal, biomass, hard coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in July 2025 also increased to around 27.23 million MWh, marking a 0.2% rise compared to the same month the previous year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 2.1% to 98,372 megawatts in July, relative to July 2024.
Natural gas power plants comprised 24.7% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.3% and 13.7%, respectively.
Imported coal, lignite, run-of-river hydroelectricity, solar power, biomass, geothermal, hard coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil also contributed to the installed capacity.
