Türkiye’s installed power capacity reached 119,632 megawatts (MW) in June, with renewables accounting for 60.9%, the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry announced Thursday.
Renewable energy installed capacity totaled by 72,826 MW in June.
Hydroelectric power led the mix, contributing 32,291 MW (27% of total capacity), followed by solar plants with 22,937 MW, accounting for 19.2% and wind power accounting for 11.3%, with 13,465 MW. Biomass and geothermal made up 2% and 1.4%, respectively.
Solar and wind installations reached their highest levels ever, reflecting continued investment and growth in Türkiye’s renewable energy sector.
Electricity generation from renewable sources also increased in June.
Last month, electricity generation from solar accounted for 16.1% with 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), reaching the highest rate of all time on a monthly basis.
Combined generation from solar and wind also hit a record high, reaching 8.4 billion kWh and representing 29.6% of total electricity production.
Total electricity generation amounted to 28.38 billion kWh last month, renewables and local resources making up 14.9 billion kWh, accounting for 18.4% of the total.
