Türkiye will hold tenders in November and December to allocate 2,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable capacity, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced Friday.
The tenders, covering 1,150 megawatts of wind and 850 megawatts of solar power, will be conducted under the country's Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) program, Bayraktar said at the Türkiye Wind Energy Congress (TWEC 2025) in the Aegean province of Izmir.
A total of six wind projects, ranging in size from 110 megawatts to 500 megawatts, will be developed in the provinces of Sivas, Balikesir, Aydin, Denizli and Kutahya.
For solar, 9 YEKA competitions will be held in the provinces of Elazig, Kahramanmaras, Erzurum, Bolu, Eskisehir, Mardin and Van, with project sizes ranging from 40 megawatts to 260 megawatts.
The YEKA program is part of Türkiye's broader efforts to increase domestic and renewable energy investments, strengthen energy supply security, and reduce carbon emissions in line with its climate and energy transition goals.
Citing a legal amendment to Turkish Coastal Law last year, Bayraktar said that it paved the way for renewable energy plants to be built in seas, reservoirs, artificial lakes and natural lakes.
Under this framework, the first auction for a floating solar power plant will also be held, with 35 megawatts of capacity allocated for installation at the Demirkopru hydropower reservoir in the western province of Manisa, he added.
