Türkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said they have reached the final stage in a $1 billion investment project with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build a 1,100-megawatt solar power plant with storage in the Turkish province of Nigde's Bor district.
In a post on Türkiye-based social media platform NSosyal, Bayraktar said he hosted Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of UAE-based energy company Masdar, and his delegation at the ministry.
Bayraktar said they discussed comprehensive cooperation opportunities with the UAE, including solar power, onshore and offshore wind energy, pumped-storage hydropower, and technology transfer.
"We have reached the final stage of the approximately $1 billion, 1,100-megawatt solar power plant with storage to be built in Nigde Bor," Bayraktar said.
The two also discussed potential investments in offshore wind power plants, HVDC transmission lines, and pumped-storage hydropower projects, Bayraktar revealed.
"We aim to deepen our strategic cooperation with the UAE in renewable energy projects through an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding. With these partnerships that will strengthen our infrastructure and energy vision, we aim to reach our 2053 net-zero target and set an example of transformation in our region," he added.
