Türkiye's solar electricity generation reached its highest level of the year on Wednesday, at 185,009 megawatt-hours (MWh), according to figures from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released Thursday.
The previous solar electricity record had been set on June 15, reaching 184,466 MWh. Türkiye's solar power surge signals start of summer record run.
Daily power consumption in Türkiye rose by around 0.86% on Wednesday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,054,556 megawatt-hours.
Hourly electricity consumption peaked at 50,286 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), and fell to its lowest level of 34,557 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT), TEIAS data showed.
Electricity production amounted to 1,061,607 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, up 0.18% from the previous day.
Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 23.4% of total generation, while solar and imported coal plants contributed 17.4% and 14.2%, respectively.
On Wednesday, the country's electricity exports totaled 10,636 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 3,975 megawatt-hours.
