Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited - also known as Qatargas 2 - signed a long-term LNG purchase and sales deal with Pakistan State Oil Company (PSO) on Wednesday, according to a press release of parent company Qatargas.
Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar Petroleum's president and board chairman, and Sheikh Imran ul Haque, managing director and CEO of PSO signed the agreement.
“This agreement is a very important milestone in Qatar’s standing as a reliable energy supplier as it marks the first direct long-term agreement between the two companies.” Al-Kaabi said.
According to the agreement, Qatargas 2, whose profile is in trade with liquefied gas, will supply 3.75 million tonnes of LNG per annum to Pakistan for 15 years. The first cargo is set to be delivered in March 2016.
Qatargas was established in 1984 and is the largest LNG producer in the world with a capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum.
Qatargas 2 is a joint venture company between Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and French energy giant Total which started production in 2009.
