Türkiye has taken its nearly two-decade energy cooperation with Azerbaijan in natural gas and oil to a new level with electricity, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Thursday.
"Our new connection will be through electricity transmission lines," Bayraktar said a press meeting after the 4th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Energy Forum in the Aegean province of Izmir.
The forum, held as part of the Türkiye Wind Energy Congress (TWEC 2025), brought together Bayraktar and Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov.
Citing rising global electricity demand, diversification of power generation and the growth of renewables, Bayraktar said: "We have very ambitious goals to convert the renewable energy potential in Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea and Nakhchivan into production, with access to a large market like Türkiye and, through Türkiye, to Europe."
