Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said Thursday that Sweden, together with Finland, has proposed three measures for the EU’s new sanctions package on Russia, reiterating the need to further pressure Russia’s energy revenues.
"Sweden and Finland have proposed three things for the new sanctions package. First of all, we need to impose a full services maritime ban on all Russian vessels that transport energy," Stenergard told reporters ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.
She said that they also need to ban the imports of fertilizers coming from Russia.
"Thirdly, for moral reasons, we need to stop the export of European luxury products to Russia," Stenergard added.
