Russia's Presidential Envoy for International Economic Cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, met with his US counterparts to discuss the crisis in global energy markets, he said Thursday.
Dmitriev, who also heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said in a written statement on Telegram that he had visited the US and held meetings with leaders of the Russia-US economic cooperation working group.
"Promising projects that could contribute to the revival of Russia-US relations and the current crisis situation in global energy markets were discussed," Dmitriev said.
Dmitriev also said the US and many other countries are beginning to understand the damage caused by sanctions imposed on Russia and the significant role of Russian oil and natural gas in ensuring the stability of the global economy.
Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most critical chokepoints for global commodity trade, had nearly come to a halt following joint attacks launched by the US and Israel against Iran and subsequent retaliatory actions by Tehran.
