Istanbul’s indie music festival: IndieCity
Music-lovers in Turkey’s cultural capital Istanbul are set to witness the fourth edition of indie music festival IndieCity at Salon IKSV on March 5.
The festival, which was organized for the first time in 2012, will “unite music enthusiasts and professionals,” said organizers.
It will also offer a platform to gather for independent local and foreign music bands, the statement added.
Performing will be London-based electro trio Solardip, Turkish dream pop band The Away Days as well as Turkish band Son Feci Bisiklet plus many others.
The festival “will be the center of independent, new, original music,” organizers say said.
Some other bands that will be performing at the festival are Dutch duo Weval, Spanish DJ JMII, Istanbul-based Gantz and Austria-based band Levni & Sloth Pallas.

‘Ottomans and Europeans’ exhibition
Istanbul is set to host an exhibition on the centuries-old relations between Ottomans and Europeans at Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center between March 4 and 27.
The exhibition is the Istanbul leg of ‘Ottomans and Europeans: Reflecting on Five Centuries of Cultural Relations’ project led by the Brussels-based Center for Fine Arts.
Entitled ‘Ottomans and Europeans: Pasts and Perspectives’, the exhibition is curated by Beral Madra and consists of works by Leone Contini, Erol Eskici, Eda Gecikmez, Naci Gunes Guven, Driant Zeneli and Mary Zygouri.
All the artists first came together in July 2015 for an residency program named ‘Blind Date Sessions’ in the Cittadellarte-Pistoletto Foundation’s center in Biella, northern Italy.
The exhibition will be free of charge.

‘Without Being Watched’
Istanbul-based SODA Gallery will host Italian-born artist Peter Demetz’s first solo show in the city.
Entitled ‘Without Being Watched’, it will be open to visitors between March 3 and April 30.
“The Italian artist brings ordinary wood to live with his incredible, hand-carved figures which vary in size from about 70cm to 115cm tall, featuring men, women and children standing still against a plain, sometimes colored background,” said a press release from the organizer.
