DUHOK
Anadolu Agency teams displayed the tragedy of Syrian refugee women who have been staying in Domiz refugee camp in Duhok city of Iraq.
Domiz camp, which is 15 km away from Duhok, is hosting nearly 40,000 Syrian refugees.
Syrian refugee women are, on one hand, struggling against winter and cold, and on the other hand, trying to keep their children alive.
AA team displayed the children who are walking in the snow barefoot, while their mothers are trying to wash the clothes in plastic washtubs if they find hot water.
The women told AA that they wanted Bashar al-Assad, who was the reason of all these, immediately quit so that they could return their warm homes.
The women said that they were safe in the camp, however, life conditions were getting worse each day, and their children got sick quickly because they did not eat properly enough.
Fatma Ahmed, one of these women in the camp, told AA that their situation got worse as the winter came, adding that they did not have any other choice but to stay in the camp.
"If we are able to sleep at night as it is too cold, we wake up early in the morning, and cook what we can find. As there is no water in the camp, we carry it by plastic cans. We shovel the snow. Rain and melting snow flow under the tents. We keep cleaning the tents all day. Let alone hot water, we even cannot find water. Our hands are freezing while we wash the dishes. Washing the clothes is a big torture. Clothes do not get dry as it is cold outside, so we hang them inside the tents but this time tents become very moist. We have a difficult life which a woman cannot bear," said Ahmed.
Noting that they were in good condition in Syria, Ahmed said that now they became miserable due to war.
