Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan accepted on Wednesday the resignation of four ministers from his government, including Aviation Minister Stella Oduah who faces allegations of fraud and forgery.
The other three are Minister for Niger Delta Affair Godsdey Orubebe, Police Affairs Minister Caleb Olubolade and State Minister for Finance Yerima Ngama.
Jonathan announced the resignation at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, which he chaired.
Orubebe, Olubolade and Ngama are believed to be nurturing governorship ambitions and so were asked to leave the cabinet, a presidential source told Anadolu Agency.
The source said Oduah had to leave to save the president the headache of defending a minister accused of corruption, especially regarding her alleged role in a controversial car scandal.
The minister has already been indicted by a parliamentary committee and a presidential panel.
