(AA)- The Chairman of the Turkish Red Crescent Aid Society Ahmet Lutfi Akar said on Friday that they were waiting for a response from their Egyptian counterpart to an offer that they can open a field hospital where volunteered doctors can work.
Calling the Egyptian security forces' intervention as a "massacre" and condemned it, Akar asserted the international community should pay its full attention to Egypt.
As the situation unfolded, Akar said they contacted their Egyptian counterpart for help. "We told them that we are following the massacre and there are many dead and wounded. As surge to health services can create a difficulty, we offered to open a field hospital. We are still waiting for a response. We did not get any response yet," Akar stated.
Akar noted that they did not get any reply from Egyptian authorities about their offer to last month massacre. Declaring that they comprehend the Egyptian situation from a humanitarian perspective, "As the Turkish Red Crescent we are showing that we are with the aggrieved people," Akar said.
Akar also added that apart from the Turkish Red Crescent many volunteered doctors are contacting them to help Egyptian people.
Egypt has been in a state of turmoil since security forces on Wednesday violently dispersed two major protest camps set up by Morsi supporters in Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya Square and Giza's Nahda Square. The Health Ministry has said that at least 638 people were killed in nationwide violence on Wednesday, including 288 in Rabaa al-Adawiya and 87 in Nahda Square. 10,000 people are also believed to be injured.
