Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton exchanged views on the ways to strengthen the Syrian opposition in their meeting.
Diplomatic officials said that Davutoglu and Clinton took up Syria, an anti-Islam movie insulting Holy Prophet Muhammad, NATO, Iraq and Turkish-Israeli relations.
Foreign Minister Davutoglu informed Clinton on the situation of Syrians who fled clashes in their country and who were staying in Turkey in the meeting.
Davutoglu and Clinton agreed that the international community should be more active on the matter, diplomatic officials said.
They also underlined the importance of meetings held by joint working group between Turkey and the United States and reiterated that Assad regime must end its "merciless" campaign against its people.
Clinton reiterated views of the United States in regard to normalization of Turkish-Israeli relations. Davutoglu said Turkey's expectations on the issue were already known.
In regard to anti-Islam movie, US secretary of state thanked Davutoglu for the government's statements regarding attacks on US diplomatic missions in the region, saying that Turkey has assumed a clear stance on it from the very beginning.
Davutoglu said that Turkey would conduct some works on the matter.
Turkish FM participates in least developed countries meeting
Davutoglu on Wednesday participated in a meeting of the Least Developed Countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.
"Turkey is strongly committed to the cause of the least developed countries in the international arena. Turkey's investments in the least developed countries had exceeded $2 billion and we aim to bring up that figure to $10 billion by 2020," Davutoglu told "the Post-Rio+20 Conference Perspective."
Davutoglu said a recent conference of the least developed countries in Istanbul last May constituted a milestone to draw attention of the developed countries, adding that pledges made in the Istanbul conference should be honored.
Davutoglu meets Pakistani, Sudanese counterparts
Davutoglu on Wednesday met with his Pakistani and Sudanese counterparts on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.
Davutoglu's meeting with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti discussed latest developments between Sudan and South Sudan as well as developments in Somalia and Egypt.
In the meeting with Hina Rabbani Khar, the Turkish and the Pakistani foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
Davutoglu told Khar that Turkey would continue to host trilateral summit meetings with Pakistan and Afghanistan as Khar expressed her gratitude for Turkey's efforts and contributions.
Khar also extended an invitation to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to participate in a meeting of the Developing 8.
Turkish FM participates in meeting over disputed Kashmir region
Davutoglu on Wednesday participated in a meeting over the Kashmir conflict hosted by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.
Davutoglu has placed special emphasis on the humanitarian dimension of the issue and underlined the importance of the protection of basic rights and freedoms.
Davutoglu said Turkey supported OIC's efforts and the dialogue between Pakistan and India to find a settlement to the problem.
Separately, the Turkish foreign minister met with his Montenegrin counterpart Nebojsa Kaludjerovic as part of his bilateral contacts in New York.
