A pair of goals from Enner Valencia secured a 2-1 comeback victory for Ecuador against Honduras in FIFA 2014 World Cup Group E match at Baixada Arena in Curitiba on Friday.
Honduras took the lead in the 31st minute after forward Carlo Costly's excellent strike, but Valencia equalized from close-range only three minutes later.
The 25-year-old Valencia's winner, his third in the tournament, came in the 65th minute with a powerful header.
The win secured Ecuador's first three points in Group E and ensured they only need a draw against France in the last group stage match to advance to the Round of 16.
The loss left Honduras on the bottom of the group with no points with just 90 minutes remaining. They will require a win against Switzerland with a large goal difference and Ecuador's loss against front-running France.
After second matches, results in 2014 FIFA Group E are as follows:
France: 5 - Switerland: 2
Honduras: 1 - Ecuador: 2
