Bahrain’s air defense systems intercepted a new wave of Iranian ballistic missiles early Sunday, according to the Bahrain National Communication Center.

In a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency, the center said that amid the continued “hostile Iranian missile attacks” on the kingdom’s territory, Bahrain Defense Force air defense units acted with high efficiency and full vigilance to intercept and counter the new wave of hostile ballistic missiles successfully.

Limited debris from the interception was detected in several areas, it added.

The center described the attacks as a “blatant violation” of Bahrain’s sovereignty and security, saying they would not deter the kingdom from taking all necessary measures to protect its territory and safeguard its security and stability.

It stressed that the safety of citizens and residents remains a top priority.

Earlier Saturday, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force said air defense systems had effectively countered additional “hostile attacks” from Iran, affirming that “the situation is completely safe and under full control” and that no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The Interior Ministry said sirens were activated, and it urged citizens and residents to head to the nearest safe location.

It also reported that buildings in the capital, Manama, and the city of Muharraq had been targeted by drones and missile debris, without specifying the party responsible.

The US and Israel launched an attack on Iran early Saturday, claiming it was meant to remove “threats” posed by the Iranian “regime.” In response, Iran targeted Israel and the US bases in the region with missiles and drones.

Israel declared a “special and immediate state of emergency” nationwide.

Iran, for its part, vowed a “harsh response” to aggression and launched missile barrages and drones toward Israel and US bases in the region.
