The Swiss engineering company ABB's revenue rose by 10 percent to $8.63 billion in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the same period last year, the company said on Thursday.
This represents the highest revenue level since 2015.
The ABB's operational earnings before interest, tax and amortization also rose to $1.06 billion in the first quarter of this year from $943 million.
"Change in the U.S. dollar exchange rates versus the prior year period resulted in a positive translation impact," the company explained.
"We started 2018 with order growth in all divisions, improved revenues and operating results," said ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer.
The company said that macroeconomic signs are trending positively in Europe and the U.S. with growth expected to continue in China.
"The overall global market is back to growth while still impacted by uncertainties in various parts of the world. Oil prices and foreign exchange translation effects are expected to continue to influence the company’s results," the company noted.
It stressed that ABB is "well positioned to tap into these opportunities for long-term profitable growth with its strong market presence, broad geographic and business scope, technology leadership and financial strength."
