LONDON
The Duchess of Cambridge Catherine, experiencing early stages of labor, has been taken to the hospital on Saturday morning, Kensington Palace said.
“The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted (...) to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London and is in the early stages of labour,” said Kensington Palace’s official twitter account.
Kate Middleton, accompanied by her husband Prince William, was taken to the hospital by car, said Kensington Palace.
British Prime Minister David Cameron congratulated the Duchess on his twitter account as well, saying: “My best wishes to the Duchess of Cambridge, who is having her second child today. The whole country will wish her well.”
The gender of the baby, who will be fourth in line to the throne, is not yet known.
According to royal tradition, the birth of the baby, including its gender and weight, will be announced via a paper proclamation hung outside Buckingham Palace.
It will also be announced via an email to the press and on Kensington Palace’s official twitter account.
The first child of Duke of Cambridge William, 32, and Kate, 33, was born on July 22, 2013 in London’s St Mary’s Hospital and was given the name George Alexander Louis.
