LEFKOSA (AA) - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu on Friday said "there is no time to waste at the negotiation table," on Cyprus.
"The time for solution for Cyprus has come. A solution will not be provided as the time passes by and generations change," Eroglu said.
Indicating that the negotiation has not started yet although 6 months have passed after the leader of Greek Cypriot administration Nikos Anastasiadis was elected, Eroglu criticized Anastasiadis for not creating a solution and for only making statement to the press.
"We cannot start over again the negotiation process and there is no time to lose at the negotiation table," Eroglu emphasized.
Talks were stalled since January 2012 due to postponements made by Greek Cypriot administration for various reasons and no progress has been made so far in the UN-backed talks between Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders.
Stating that Greek side always wanted to win time by putting forward impossible demands, Eroglu had said, "The issue will be resolved, if the Greek side will come to the negotiation table in a good faith."
Greek Cypriots had rejected in a referendum over a UN peace plan, otherwise known as the Annan plan in 2004 while Turkish Cypriots were accepting the plan with a great majority in a separate referendum held in Turkish side of the island.
The grift situation in Cyprus has continued since 1974 peace operation by Turkish Armed Forces to end the anarchy and murders targeting Turkish Cypriots by armed militia of some organizations such as EOKA, which aimed a Greece - Cyprus unity.
UN had brokered talks between the two sides and talks re-started in 2008.
