CAIRO (AA) - Egypt’s Supreme Judicial Council has agreed in principle to reinstate former prosecutor general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud, sources told Anadolu Agency Wednesday.
President Mohamed Morsi had in November sacked long-serving Mahmoud, an appointee of former president Hosni Mubarak, and named Talaat Abdullah in his place.
But on Tuesday the Court of Cassation issued a verdict in support of an earlier ruling by the Court of Appeal invalidating Abdullah’s appointment.
