BAGHDAD
At least 11 people were killed Saturday in several incidents of violence in Baghdad and Saladin, a security source said.
“Two people were killed and 11 others were wounded in a car bomb attack in central Baghdad,” the source said. “Three improvised bombs went off in public places in al-Dawanem, al-Obaidi and al-Mahmoudiyah areas in Baghdad, leaving four people dead and 15 others injured.”
The source also said that police found two female bodies with bullet holes in the head and chest.
In the northern province of Saladin, a security source said that “three people were killed and five others were injured in a blast in Tuz Khormato district in eastern Tikrit.”
The source told Anadolu Agency that “a bomb exploded late on Friday in a market in central Tuz Khormato, which led to the death of three people and the injury of five others.”
Iraq was plunged into a security vacuum in June 2014 when Daesh stormed the northern city of Mosul and declared what it called a caliphate in parts of Iraq and Syria.
