A Palestinian youth on Friday died of injuries sustained during Israel's recent seven-week military onslaught on the Gaza Strip, according to a Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman.
"Sohail Tafesh, 25, from the eastern Gaza City neighborhood of Shujaya succumbed to his wounds at a Jerusalem hospital on Friday," Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.
The latest fatality brings the number of Palestinians killed during 51 days of fierce Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip – which finally ended in late August – to 2,165.
More than 570 Palestinian children were killed and thousands injured during the onslaught, according to al-Qodra.
Over the same period, at least 73 Israelis – 68 soldiers and five civilians – were killed by Palestinian fighters or rocket fire, according to Israeli figures.
The Israeli offensive, which began on July 7 with the stated aim of halting rocket fire from Gaza, ended with an August 26 cease-fire agreement between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions.
