PARIS
French foreign minister has said that the world must act fast on Syria.
FM Alain Juppe said on France's BFM television that the international community has to fulfil its responsibilities in Syria.
If special envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan "doesn't function, we have to envisage other methods," he said.
Juppe said that his country would support the US backed proposal for arms embargo and other tough measures against Syria in the UN Security Council.
Annan plan was the last chance before a civil war, he added.
Annan's six-point peace plan includes demands for a ceasefire, the immediate withdrawal of heavy armour from residential areas and access for humanitarian aid.
The ceasefire is the key part of special envoy Annan's six-point peace plan, which was presented to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on March 10 and accepted by him on March 27.
