BERLIN

 The Egyptian medical student who disrupted Abdel Fattah el-Sisi Berlin press conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday spoke to Anadolu Agency about her opposition to the president.

Egyptian Fagr Eladly, 22, was bundled out of the chancellery after screaming that the Egyptian president was a "murderer" and called for an end to the "military coup".

"My aim was to show that we stand by people who are persecuted in Egypt," Eladly said. "Because there is no law, there is no freedom in Egypt."

She added: "We have been being governed by dictatorship for 60 years in Egypt. I made this protest because we want justice, we want freedom."

Eladly, who also works as a journalism assistant at a radio station in Mainz, claimed she had wanted to ask a question at the news briefing but was prevented from doing so.

She also criticized Chancellor Angela Merkel for hosting the president. "Supporting Sisi is unacceptable on moral grounds because he is not a democratic leader," she said. "He denied rule of law and destroyed democracy in Egypt."

As Eladly was led away by security officials, some Egyptian journalists from Sisi’s delegation chanted counter-slogans.

Merkel and Sisi held a joint press conference at the chancellery in Berlin on Wednesday following talks.

Earlier, around 500 protested outside the German parliament against Sisi’s visit.
