ANKARA
Satellites will help airplanes to land at the airport of the eastern province of Van.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yildirim said that "for the first time in Turkey, airplanes will make use of satellites while approaching, landing in or departing from the airport of Van instead of utilizing systems located on the airport."
"Within a certain process, seven more Turkish airports will begin using satellites for airplanes," Yildirim also said.
Turkish aviation officials believe that the use of satellites at Van Airport will minimize the number of cancelled flights or missed approaches.
