Istanbul (AA) - Opposition Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Sirri Sureyya Onder met Istanbul Governorate civil service inspectors upon their request to provide information about police's excessive use of force at Gezi Park protests.
Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Onder said an administrative investigation has started for police's disproportionate use of force.
Onder emphasized that he received thousands of information, documents and pictures regarding the issue and he shared them with the inspectors.
"Why is the governor sitting on that chair still?" asked Onder, expressing that Istanbul Governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu had to resign.
Onder took active role since the beginning of Gezi Park events in Istanbul's Taksim Square.
He stopped the uprooting of the trees twice, and was hospitalized as a pepper gas cannister hit him in the shoulder.
