Golan (AA) - AA war correspondents managed to enter Golan Heights Thursday and took photos and taped ongoing artillery fire and fires caused by it.
The hills of the city of Quneitra, United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) zone between Syria and Israel, are under heavy artillery fire by Syrian artillery on Thursday.
AA war correspondents managed to enter Golan Heights and took photos and taped the explosion of artillery fires and smokes that rose from fires around the hills of Quneitra.
Israeli government announced that the Quneitra border in the Golan Heights was closed due to the tension in the region.
The spokesman of United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) Colonel Patrick Gauchat confirmed the information, saying, "the road of Golanis is still open, but the Quneitra border is closed."
On 10 June 1967, the last day of the Six-Day War, Quneitra came under Israeli control.
It was briefly recaptured by Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, but Israel regained the control in its subsequent counter-offensive.
The city was almost completely destroyed before the Israeli withdrawal in June 1974.
It now lies in the demilitarized UNDOF zone between Syria and Israel, a short distance from the de facto border between the two countries.
