ANKARA
Anadolu Agency's 3rd term program for training war correspondent was completed.
The training program was held in cooperation with Police Academy.
AA's Deputy Director General & News Academy Coordinator Ahmet Tek said during the closing ceremony that the target of the training was to provide security of correspondents who would work in extraordinary conditions.
Tek added that correspondents were always present in a state of emergency or in a war milieu.
Noting that war correspondence training program was a sign of AA's respect towards its correspondents, Tek said that AA correspondents, in this aspect, had more advantage than their colleagues.
AA's correspondent in Egypt Mohammed Elshamy Noshy, who spoke on behalf of the students at the ceremony, said that the training helped them to be on a better situation for keeping themselves safe during a natural disaster, in a war zone or in daily life.
Noshy said that he had been wounded by an iron ball in Egypt, adding that if he had received war training in that period, his condition could have been more different.
Participants of the program received their certificates during the ceremony.
Training program
Within the scope of the training program, participants were placed in pairs in a vehicle which could turn around 360 degrees. A video camera was placed at the front of the vehicle so the students could later watch their experiences on screen. Students experienced the overturning of a vehicle travelling at 5 kilometers per hour first without seat belts and later with seat belts.
Participants were also provided training in behaviour during social events and in using armored vests, helmets and gas masks.
Participants joined special police forces while they intervened in an illegal rally following theoretical lessons. During the scenario, police vehicle "TOMA" applied pressurized water on the participants. Special police forces also used smoke bomb and pepper spray on the participants.
