Manchester United on Friday triggered an option to extend defender Harry Maguire's stay at the club until 2026 summer.
"Head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed Manchester United have triggered a one-year extension to Harry Maguire's contract.
"The 31-year-old defender joined the club from Leicester City in 2019 and his deal was set to expire this coming summer, but it will now run until June 2026," the English club said in a statement.
In 2019, Maguire completed his big move from Leicester City to Manchester United for £80 million ($97 million).
Playing as a central defender, Maguire scored 12 goals in 222 appearances for Manchester United. He helped the Red Devils win the 2023 Carabao Cup and 2024 Emirates FA Cup.
Maguire had seven goals in 64 appearances for the English national team, and is still playing for his nation. He represented England at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup finals.
