DAMASCUS
At least 148 people, including 37 children and 12 women, were killed on Sunday in attacks staged by the Syrian regime across the country, opposition activists said on Monday.
Syrian regime forces killed 101 people in Aleppo, 24 in Damascus suburbs, 10 in Hama, six in Daraa, three in Deir ez Zor and Homs, one in Idlib, said the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), a London-based group which tracks civilian and dissident casualties.
Syrian helicopters bombarded 11 different parts of Aleppo and many people were wounded and buildings and cars destroyed, the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC) said. It urged for medical equipment since area hospitals filled beyond capacity are unable to help all casualties. LCC also said Syrian regime forces attacked opposition-controlled regions such as Douma and Yarmouk.
Meanwhile, Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that regime forces killed a number of opponents in a Damascus suburb in response to an attack staged by opposition forces.
