MOSCOW
Chinese President Xi Jinping struck on Friday 32 agreements with Russia on trade, natural gas, banking, mutual investment and nuclear cooperation.
The inking of the deals came in a meeting between Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russian officials said.
The Russian leader praised China and called it a “strategic partner” during a press conference following the meeting.
"Boosting economic relations remained in the forefront in the meeting," said Putin.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral relations and foreign policy.
Both countries agreed to form a new economic area in Eurasia, to introduce 3-billion dollars in sales of Russian "Sukhoi" warplanes in the Chinese market and to form a joint investment bank.
Russian Gazprom and China agreed to transport Russia's natural gas to Chinese markets via the “east line.”
The agreements also included railway, space, mining, media and other projects.
