Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil al-Araby on Monday called on the Arab world to act in unity and solidarity.
Al-Araby's remarks came at the "Economic, Social and Development 3rd Arab Summit" being held in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.
Touching on Palestine and Syria, al-Araby underlined that the Palestinian people had to be protected against Israeli attacks.
"Palestine has serious problems in health, employment and economy. I call on Arab countries and the international community to help Palestine," al-Araby noted.
"Bashar al-Assad has devastated his country. Historic artefacts, schools and residential areas in Syria have turned into ruins due to Assad. The UN Security Council must make immediate efforts to facilitate peace in Syria and end bloodshed there," al-Araby stressed.
The Amir of Kuwait, Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, in his part, said that the economies of Arab countries had to be revived.
On Syria, al-Sabah underlined that the Syrian people had to be extended a helping hand.
The Riyadh summit will end on Tuesday night.
