Assassination attempt on a Turkish politician in Bulgaria, Ahmed Dogan, the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party, is being taken to the European Parliament's agenda.
Guy Verhofstadt, member of the European Parliament and the leader of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), defines the failure of the assassination attempt as "miracle" and requested the situation of the democracy in Bulgaria to be discussed in the European Parliament General Assembly.
Verhofstadt said, "An attack during congress aimed at a political party leader raises doubts in regards to the situation of the Bulgarian democracy.Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party forms a very important political platform for many in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian authorities should bring those responsible to judges."
Verhofstadt also stated that he recognized inadequacy in freedoms, human rights, respect to minorities and politics in Bulgaria.
