UK says Israel's 'deplorable attacks' on Gaza health care facilities 'must end'
Israel's assaults on medical facilities have 'comprehensively degraded' access to healthcare in Gaza, says foreign secretary after Israel's targeting of Al-Ahli Baptist hospital

ISTANBUL
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Sunday Israel's "deplorable attacks" on health care facilities "must end."
Stressing that Al-Ahli Hospital has been targeted multiple times since the start of the conflict, Lammy said on X that Israel's assaults on medical facilities have "comprehensively degraded access to healthcare in Gaza."
Lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, not continued violence, he added.
Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in central Gaza was targeted Sunday by two Israeli missiles, which hit the hospital's emergency room, surgical operations building, and medical oxygen production station.
The attack is said to have put the area's last operating hospital out of service.
Attacks on health care facilities are classified as war crimes.
