Syria allocates $10 million to rehabilitate 3 hospitals in Raqqa
Health minister says funding targets urgent repairs as terrorist organization YPG/SDF withdrew from area
ISTANBUL
Syria has earmarked $10 million to restore and rehabilitate three hospitals in the northern province of Raqqa, the health minister said Thursday, as the government steps up efforts to rebuild services in the country’s northeast following the withdrawal of the terrorist organization YPG/SDF.
Musab al-Ali told Alikhbariah TV that ministry teams are already deployed across eastern Syria to support local health directorates and ensure continuity of care.
All medical staff currently working in the eastern region will remain on duty under the authority of the Health Ministry, al-Ali said, adding that the government is prioritizing rapid rehabilitation.
He noted that health employees in Hasakah were previously attacked and that most of the province’s health data were lost.
The ministry, he said, will apply the same plans, attention and priority to Hasakah as those already extended to Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
The announcement comes as the army last week took control over wide areas in northeastern Syria following clashes with the terrorist organization YPG/SDF.
On Sunday, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire agreement with the SDF to integrate its members into state institutions.
Under the deal, the SDF will withdraw its military formations east of the Euphrates River and hand over administrative and security control of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces to the Syrian state.
The agreement also provides for the integration of SDF military and security personnel into the Syrian defense and interior ministries following individual security vetting, as well as the transfer of border crossings, oil and gas fields, and civilian institutions to government control.
The deal followed a military operation launched by the Syrian Army, through which it regained wide areas in eastern and northeastern Syria after repeated violations by the SDF of earlier agreements signed with Damascus nearly a year ago.
On Tuesday, the SDF launched a series of attacks on Syrian positions, killing 11 soldiers and injuring 25 others.
