Kuwait reports limited fires after 2 drones hit oil facilities

ISTANBUL

The Kuwaiti Defense Ministry said Thursday two drones targeted operating units of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, causing limited fires.

In a statement, the ministry said that it had detected 18 hostile drones over the past 24 hours, of which 13 drones were intercepted and destroyed, while three fell outside the “threat zone.”

The ministry said two drones that reached their targets struck operational units of the national oil company, resulting in limited fires that were brought under control without any human injuries.

Regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
