Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi on Thursday strongly condemned Iranian attacks on key energy facilities in Saudi Arabia as a “terrorist act.”

In a statement, Albudaiwi said attacks on the SAMREF refinery, Yanbu Port, and a refinery south of Riyadh constitute “a blatant criminal aggression” that reflects “the hostile behavior and nature of the Iranian regime” and its “total disregard for the security and stability of the region and the world.”

Such actions represent “a violation of all international laws, charters, and the principles of good neighborliness,” he added.

The GCC chief reiterated the bloc’s “full and unwavering solidarity” with Saudi Arabia, affirming its “absolute support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability.”

“The security of the GCC states is indivisible,” he said, underscoring the Gulf bloc’s unified position in the face of regional threats.

Regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
