Slovakia on Monday reiterated that it will not participate in any military mission in Ukraine.

Addressing EU ambassadors in the country, Prime Minister Robert Fico said he is in favor of holding another meeting between Slovakia and Ukraine focusing on mutually beneficial projects.

“The Slovak Republic will not participate in any military mission in Ukraine and will not spend a cent on military aid to Ukraine,” said Fico.

The prime minister also commented the importance of resuming Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine, arguing that Europe cannot remain competitive without it.

Regarding tensions between Hungary and the EU over disagreements on Russia policy and support for Ukraine, he added: “Slovakia will never support any EU sanctions against Hungary for its sovereign positions.”
