Türkiye's electricity production increased by around 4.12% in August compared to the same month last year, the latest data from the country's energy watchdog showed on Friday.
Total electricity production rose to around 31.36 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in August, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report for August.
The country produced electricity from several sources: 30.21% from natural gas, 22.87% from imported coal, 17.31% from hydroelectricity, 11.15% from lignite and 10.2% from wind.
Geothermal, biomass, hard coal, solar power, asphaltite, and fuel oil generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in August also increased to around 25.75 million MWh, marking a 5.07% rise compared to the same month last year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 1.80% to 95,579 megawatts in August, relative to August last year.
Natural gas power plants comprised 26.4% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.3% and 12%, respectively.
Lignite, imported coal, hydropower, biomass, geothermal, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, naphtha, LNG and diesel also contributed to the installed capacity.
