Russian senior official describes Trump's decisions as 'revolutionary'
Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu says US President Donald Trump's steps need discussion at all levels

MOSCOW
US President Donald Trump is making changes that can be described as "revolutionary," Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoygu said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a news conference in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital, Shoygu hoped that Trump's steps herald the revision of the previous US course in foreign affairs, including on Russia.
"Regarding Trump's other decisions, I am hopeful that this marks the beginning of a major revolution in the US, aimed at reassessing everything they have done over the past time, particularly through such organizations as USAID," he said.
The official doubted that the decision to suspend the activities of the USAID is final and irreversible, noting that Washington continues to interfere in other countries' affairs, mentioning in this regard recent protests in Serbia and Slovakia.
Shoygu noted that the situation in the US was one of the topics on the agenda of his meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his working trip to Kazakhstan.
"We talked about what is happening in the US today, those changes that can be called even revolutionary in some ways. Those statements, made by the new authorities in the US, of course, demand discussion at all levels, especially everything related to security issues," he remarked.
When asked if the result of the US presidential election may prompt Russia to revert its nuclear doctrine to milder terms, Shoygu said those processes were completely unrelated.
"How can the election of a US president affect our nuclear doctrine? In no way. We ensured the security of our allies, our neighbors, which are both Kazakhstan and Belarus; we ensured security under a single umbrella (and continue ensuring)," he said.
Russia will monitor the developments of the US course and react accordingly, he stressed.
