Deposit Insurance Corporation head Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to succeed Mulyani Indrawati

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reshuffled his Cabinet Monday, removing Finance Minister Mulyani Indrawati after deadly protests that began in late August.
Prabowo, 73, who took office last October, swore in new Cabinet members at the presidential palace, Berita Satu TV reported.
Five ministers were removed, including Mulyani, who served as finance minister from 2005 to 2010 and again since 2016, earning a reputation for fiscal discipline and credibility.
She was succeeded by Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, former head of the Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Also removed were the ministers of political and security affairs, cooperatives, youth and sports, and migrant worker protection.
The president also inaugurated the new Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs.
Indonesia’s benchmark stock index fell 1.28% on Monday.
Southeast Asia's largest economy was rocked by violent protests last week over an increase in ministers' perks and the subsequent killing of an online rider after being hit by a police van.
At least 10 people were killed in days-long protests.
