Hong Kong sees hottest October since 1884: Report
Hong Kong Observatory cites persistent upper-air anticyclone over southern China as reason for high temperature
ISTANBUL
Hong Kong recorded its hottest October since records began in 1884, local media reported on Tuesday.
Hong Kong Observatory said that the readings showed the highest monthly mean temperature since 1884 at 27.4C (81.32F), and the highest monthly mean minimum temperature at 25.6C (78F), according to the South China Morning Post.
The monthly mean maximum temperature was also the second highest recorded, at 29.9C (85.82F), while the highest, 30.3C (86.54), was logged in 2024.
The observatory cited a persistent upper-air anticyclone over southern China as the reason for the high temperature.
"Under the influence of an anticyclone aloft, the local weather was generally fine and very hot on the first three days of the month," the forecaster said on Tuesday.
