White evangelical approval of Trump slips: poll
More than 7-in-10 (72%) say they approve of way Donald Trump is handling job, says Pew Research Center

WASHINGTON
The approval rating for US President Donald Trump among white evangelical Protestants dropped slightly, according to a recent poll.
More than seven-in-10 among respondents, or (72%), approve of the way Trump is handling his job, according to the Pew Research Center survey released Wednesday.
That is a 6% drop from 78% recorded in April.
The survey was conducted June 16 - 22.
If the presidential election were held today, 82% of white evangelical Protestant registered voters would vote for Trump or indicated they are leaning toward voting for the incumbent, according to the survey.
Just 17% said they would back the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee, former US Vice President Joe Biden.
A Monmouth University poll released Thursday showed Biden continues to lead Trump by a wide margin nationally.
Biden holds a 12-point nationwide lead against Trump, 53% to 41% among registered voters, according to Politico.
Voters will decide Nov. 2 who they will elect as president and other national, state and county positions.
