Severe winter storm triggers massive 100-vehicle pileup in Michigan
Numerous injuries reported, none currently believed to be fatal, says Michigan State Police
WASHINGTON
A powerful winter storm on Monday triggered a massive pileup involving about 100 vehicles in the US state of Michigan.
The Michigan State Police said the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the reported pileup.
"Numerous injuries have been reported; at this time, none are believed to be fatal," it posted via US social media company X.
Images and footage circulating on X show scores of cars and trucks scattered along the highway, with several vehicles stranded off the road.
Gov. Gretcher Whitmer warned the public against heavy snowfall and icy conditions across the state.
"If you need to travel today, please drive with caution as roads crews work to improve conditions," she said on X.
