At least 34 people were killed by a suicide bomber on Sunday in Iraq's Shia-majority city of Hilla south of Baghdad, according to a local security source.
"At least 34 people were killed when a bomber detonated his explosive-laden truck at a checkpoint at the city’s entrance," the source told Anadolu Agency.
According to the same source, several security personnel were among those killed in the attack.
The blast left another 43 people injured, a number of whom are in critical condition, the source said.
There has as yet been no claim of responsibility for Sunday's deadly bombing, but recent weeks have seen the Daesh terrorist group claim responsibility for a spate of similar attacks in Iraq.
