DAMASCUS
At least 63 people, including three children and eight women, have been killed in air and ground operations across Syria carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime, opposition activists have claimed.
Twenty seven people were killed in the suburbs of Damascus, 13 in Homs, eight in Aleppo, six in Idlib, five in Daraa, three in Hama and one in Lattakia, the London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights watchdog said on Tuesday.
An additional report from the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCCS), a network of local opposition groups, said that army helicopters dropped several bombs on the opposition-controlled areas of Aleppo which resulted in the destruction of several homes and the ensuing rescue of the injured from the debris.
Army helicopters also dropped barrel bombs on Damascus, the LCCS added.
Syrian security forces "neutralized" a large number of armed groups during operations in Hama, Homs, Idlib and Aleppo, said the Syrian government's official SANA news agency.
More than 100,000 people have been killed during the ongoing three-year conflict in Syria, which has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people, according to the U.N.
