
Hollywood's stars gathered in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this year's 86th Academy Awards winners.
The awards are the culmination of the year’s movie awards season and were hosted by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for the second time. Over 200 countries watched as "12 Years a Slave" took the top honors with Oscars for best picture and best adapted screenplay while its breakout star, Lupita Nyong'o, won for best supporting actress.
The top winner of the night, however, was "Gravity" with seven awards, including best director for Alfonso Cuarón and the Oscar for best visual effects.
